On Saturday, Aug. 6, the vision of Reese Perry to sponsor an “appreciation picnic” for elected officials, political candidates, and public figures came to fruition.  Perry, founder and leader of “Freedom Lovers of Franklinville,” a local group of parents and citizens seeking to become more involved in the political process, came up with the idea in June.  Working with a number of leaders of local citizens’ groups, including Nancie Orticelli of the Constitutional Coalition of NYS, Perry turned her vision into an event called the “Statewide Grassroots Appreciation Picnic” in which residents from the Western New York area could express gratitude to officials and public figures for their service to the community and their unique voices in the marketplace of ideas.
